Avengers figures

Hot Toys’ Latest Creation:The Avengers

I am a complete figure nut. Aside from cosplay, collecting/wanting figures is my most expensive hobby. Matter of fact, it might be my most expensive. You can budget and find inexpensive materials for cosplay, but figures usually have a set price no matter where you buy. Back when Ogeeku first started, I wrote an article on why we collect. If you check it out, I don’t need to repeat myself.

Madame Tsuuaud has nothing on the company Hot Toys. They specialize in 1/6 Scale model figures designed after American characters; beautifully I must add. Since the company started in 2000, they’ve come out with some pretty impressive ones. Take a look at their Facebook (their site is under construction).

It was announced a while ago that they were in the process of making a set of Avengers figures, starting with the reveal of Nick Fury five months ago and they have released teasers of each Avenger, and main baddie, Loki, followed by the full reveal of each. These particular ones are modeled and sculpted to resemble each actor portraying their particular character. Check them out below:

Each one will be at 1/6th scale, come with accessories and interchangeable hands and heads, and are completely flexible capable of doing different poses for all your displaying needs.

As for Hulk, Hot Toys teased with this this image as well as the one used for the featured picture.

Of course, none of these would be complete without a poverty stricken price. Nick Fury, Iron Man, Hawkeye and Black Widow have all been priced at $189.99, Thor at $199.99, Captain America at $214.99, and my personal favorite, Loki at $219.99. That doesn’t included tax and shipping, if it applies. It’s amazing how Hot Toys must torture me both financially and emotionally with these hefty prices. Damn the geek in me! I want to display that Thor and Loki scene.

Do we have any hardcore Avengers fans out there gutsy (or rich) enough to get one? Or possibly buy me one…..

At first I was thinking 1/6th scale seems really big; but then I remembered GI Joe used to be a foot tall as well.  I’m not really into collecting figures (and certainly not at those prices) but at least I can say they look pretty.

that Loki does look absolutely stellar.  the Loki/Thor is pretty cool too but that is something of a hefty sum.  didn’t see release date info though.  saw on the FB that they’re also doing another Joker (and I may hold out for that).

Do these things have ANY detail to them at all?
    I mean seriously…

No release date as of yet. I think when they announce Hulk officially, there may be a date.

The prices are killer.  I’m otaku as much as the next guy, but damn. Over $200 for that Loki.  I just hope the dark side in me doesn’t take over and buy it anyway… then again…

Incredibly pretty.  No matter how many times I tell myself “NO!”, I can’t help but want so bad.

These are nice and all, but I’m saving my pennies for the Agent Coulson statue!
