Thanks For The Fun Ogeeku Year 1: A Message From A Mod To His Worthless Peons
Greetings peasants of Ogeeku! I’m sure many of you look like this:
And by looking like that, I mean you all cosplay as peasants, which is even worse than being a peasant. To quote Eleanor Sherman “the poor should be shot into space”. I think that’s a befitting punishment for all you point lacking Ogeeku.
The conditions for being saved are as follows:
By the end of 2011 you must:
- Have at least 1700 Ogeeku points (or at least DESERVE 1700 Ogeeku points)
- Be friends with me on Ogeeku
- Contribute an article on Ogeeku
- And have felt the fear in your soul caused by the possibility of Sam Kirsch taking away your points
If you meet these guidelines, you will be saved.
BUT NOW ON TO SERIOUS MATTERS!
Ogeeku, oh lovely Ogeeku. Beautiful sexy Ogeeku. COME TO ME OGEEKU *smooch* *smooch*
BACK ON TOPIC. I (Snotsnit, the humble half of your two man chat mod squad and member of the Ogeeku Hive Mind), would like to thank all of you for everything you’ve done this 1st year of Ogeeku (we follow a calendar similar to that of the Chinese calendar. The calendar starts on the day Ogeeku first started. We are currently in the year of the Hedgehog. Next year will be the year of the Plumber, followed by the year of the Starman which is followed by…well you know the rest right? Who doesn’t know the order of the Ogeeku calendar? Oh and did I mention that each year of the calendar has a theme song? For instance the year of Starman’s theme song is Starman by David Bowie. We have the best calendar system EVER).
Without the contributions from all of you, Ogeeku could not have become the site that it is today. Don’t worry guys, it will get better, it really will. The more you guys contribute to this site, the bigger it will become, the better it will become, and the superlative form of a third adjective I have yet to decide upon. Just think about how we’ve grown in these past few months.
I had the pleasure, along with a few other members here, of being present at the very first Ogeeku live stream where these guys we’ve come to know and love (and some whom we love to hate) were playing Final Fantasy 2 (which James would argue is the best Final Fantasy, but we all know he’s wrong). Over the course of a few weeks, we steadily started to grow and grow. At first, we didn’t even have an Ogeeku point system. Once it was established, some of us began a zombie-like hunger streak for Ogeeku points (if you can’t tell, Svents, DukeKataron, and I were the top zombies). You get used to the hunger after a while, but there are moments where it comes back….MUST HAVE POINTS!
ANYWHOOS! Soon afterwards, a forum was established. While not the most active forum by any means, its activity steadily grows. Hopefully through more donations and more activity, we can expand the forum and create a much more functional part of the site.
As the weeks went on, more areas of the site started popping up. The fan art section for instance was created due to the vast amount of (freaking hilarious) fan art submitted during the live streams. While not all of them are top quality (I submitted the ultimate stick figure MS Paint fan art), some fan art is really well done (again not mine). No matter what your skill in photoshop or paint, give it a try (cause I mean come on, have you seen mine? They’re horrible! Anyone could do better than that!).
We even were able to start a contest feature. Although, only one has happened so far, with Margot winning…assorted…Japanese…stuff. We tried a 2nd contest but no one entered (nobody is THAT good at dancing Jon). But we’ll do more, and we’ll give you chances to win GREAT (okay maybe not caps lock worthy, but still pretty awesome) prizes. But don’t just look at the contest page, because some contests happen during the stream, and they can be REALLY (maybe I should stop with the caps lock) good stuff!
I think it’s safe to say that we have become a family here at Ogeeku. I mean sure, sometimes we make jokes that family members probably wouldn’t make to other family members (unless that family were the Fritzls. Ouch, that joke was DARK. Too much?), but we all get along. We refer to each other as our “internet family”. Sometimes, when I feel down, I look at my calendar and see that it’s an Ogeeku live stream day. Then I get all excited cause I get to hang with my internet family. Tuesdays I get to see my internet mom, step-dad, and sometimes her Canasta or Mah Jong friends (Charlotte, Jason, and her friends). Saturdays I get to see my internet dad and his drinking/poker buddies (Jon, James, Marque, Sam). And Thursdays I get to see my internet drunk hillbilly uncles and whomever they bring along (Mike, Adam, and whomever they bring along). And all of you Ogeeku members are my internet brothers and sisters. G-d, I love my internet family.
So in closing, I wanna thank each and every one of you. I really am grateful for the work all of you have done to make this site great. But none of this could be done without the work of our great and fearless leaders:
Jon Brence:

and
Charlotte Parker:

And I know for sure that if you think I’m really thankful for the contributions you guys have made, they’re 5 times as thankful.
So please keep contributing, keep donating (you worthless space-bound peasants), and please continue to frequent the site as we leave 2011 and head into 2012, the last year of human existence.
This has been a message from 1/2 of your all powerful mod team: Snotsnit “The Snotty One”. (Btw, never be afraid to talk to me! I’M SO LONELY *cries*)
*Update*: Soon after he finished writing this article, the man known as Michael “Snotsnit” Eisen, jumped off a cliff because one of his friends told him there would be Ogeeku points at the bottom of the cliff. Needless to say, Michael “Snotsnit” Eisen died with Ogeeku points in hand.
*2nd Update*: Nope, looks like he’s still alive, and without any new Ogeeku points. Wow, sucks to be Michael “Snotsnit” Eisen. If only a man with a name handed down from the gods themselves, something like…Jon Brence, were to soothe this man’s pain and bestow upon him some of those ever so precious Ogeeku points. Now we wait and see if miracles truly can come true. *waits*
