Fan Expo Canada!
Howdy folks! Summer is coming to an end, and that means a lot of things to a lot of people. For some, school will be starting up again. For others, there will be less stupid kids running around. For some of us here in Ontario, it means that Fan Expo is coming up! In Toronto at the end of this month from the 23rd to the 26th, Fan Expo Canada will be attracting nerds and geeks from all over.
Needless to say, Ogeeku will have a presence there. A press presence, in fact! That’s right, both myself and InfernalXerxes will be attending with shiny press credentials. We will be representing Ogeeku in all its glory, and hopefully bringing you folks back a bunch of pictures and news and other things that people bring back from conventions! No souvenirs for you, though, because I’m not made of money.
But if you are one of the eighty thousand people who are anticipated to show up at this event, then let us know! We’d love to meet up with some Ogeeku folks while we’re there. Especially if you’re an attractive female, but even if you’re just a dude, give us a shout and we’ll hang out. I’d love to get some pictures of Ogeeku folks to put up in a post about the convention after it’s finished. If you’re planning to be there, send me a message here through Ogeeku, or maybe tweet me or something (@DukeKataron) and we’ll work something out.
Either way, Xerxes and I will be there, doing whatever one does at a convention. I won’t lie, this is my first ever convention, so I have no idea what to expect. I had planned a cosplay as well, but alas, my fashion designer friend that I had coerced to help me into making my costume is on vacation, so she didn’t have time. Next time there’s a convention around here, however, I will be decked out in my Bolin costume from Legend of Korra.
So, judging by the website, there’s going to be all sorts of stuff going on. Plenty of celebrities, including the obligatory Stan Lee appearance. Cristopher Lloyd, some of the cast of Walking Dead, the cast of Lost Girl (Saturday only, it seems), LeVar Burton, John Barrowman, and…well, it’s easier to just straight up link you to the guest list. But aside from guests, it seems there will be a few other big events, including a geeky speed dating session based on genres. Yeah, that seemed a bit weird to me too, but apparently it’s been a success in the past. There’s also a wedding taking place on Friday. Yes, a wedding. People are getting married at Fan Expo. Did they meet at the geeky speed dating? I have no idea, but they’re getting married in front of thousands of folks at Fan Expo. I may just have to check it out.
So if you’re interested, check out their website and maybe come out and hang out. I’m not sure if I’ll be able to get out there on Thursday, but if all goes well, I will be around the other days. Hopefully I’ll see some of you guys out there!
