The CorollaCade Project
Over the course of the month of September, I had the privilege of working with a team of incredibly talented individuals on a project that pushed boundaries and checked a box off from my bucket list. The project intended to bring a new perspective to integrated marketing and also present a new way to look at test driving a vehicle, which in this case was a 2014 Toyota Corolla.
We built a fully-immersive experience from scratch that showcased the features of the Toyota Corolla – all presented in the form of an arcade cabinet.
The biggest challenge for us wasn’t the fact that we were making a video game from the ground up – It was that we had to do so in less than a month.
Upon landing the challenge, I called up Aaron Rasmussen, a colleague of mine whom I had worked with back in the days of Mana Energy Potion and Blood Potion, who was now coding video games and developing software for the Oculus Rift. We had a quick brainstorm on the phone, and soon determined that we would need a crack-squad team from the get-go. So I called up the best guys I know:
– and Aaron assembled his game development team, Daniel Cahill and Philip Ramirez.
We began work immediately on our individual teams and worked late into the night to make what seemed to be a near impossible project come to life. We finished the project in three and a half weeks time, and many high fives were had.
